Dianthus fennec
Dianthus fennec is an extremely striking flower; its cerise colour is highly contemporary. Previously Dianthus Castellaro was often considered the benchmark for this colour, but it can grow somewhat lanky. Whilst similarly coloured Dianthus Dona has a tendency to take on a bluish haze in the cold store. Fennec’s strength is that it doesn’t discolour, irrespective of season or conditions, it has a large flower bud, serrated petals and a faint, sweet scent. This standard carnation has a good average vase life of 10 to 12 days.

Crossandra infundibuliformis ‘Fortuna’
This bright orange ‘Fortuna’ may in all honesty be called a breakthrough in Crossandra breeding. Crossandra’s main claim to fame used to be its propensity to drop out of the chain, but the introduction of ‘Fortuna’ has solved this problem. ‘Fortuna’s’ secret is its greatly improved root system, which makes the plant far more resistant to temperature fluctuations. Other advantages offered by ‘Fortuna’ include more lavish flowering, glossier foliage, brighter coloured flowers and the extended life of the plant.
Crossandra ‘Fortuna’ also has a longer flowering period as the entire spike flowers so that the plant retains its ornamental value longer. This houseplant needs little care: regular watering in small doses is enough. It needs no plant food and can tolerate minimum temperatures of 10 to 12° C. (Flower Council of Holland)
